Summary
Limits Taser use by peace officers to situations in which an officer is “justified in using deadly force” as defined in the Penal Code. Background
Tasers have been used in Houston 892 times in the last two years; in only 39 of those incidents would officers have been justified in the use of deadly force. There has been at least 16 deaths due to Taser use by police in Texas, and studies have shown Tasers are disproportionately used on minorities. /1/References and Additional Links

A police officer was fired last year for not tasering a man who he determined, citing his Christian beliefs in non-violence.
The man was older, and the officer believed he would be a risk for cardiac arrest. He and his partner easily subdued the man and arrested him without the use of the taser.
The officer is now suing APD.

First they say HPD was shooting too many people, so they demanded tasers. Now HPD is supposedly tasering too many people. I guess HPD just needs to go back to shooting them??
Key words: deadly force

Q: If an officer is in a situation in which he/she
must use "deadly force",
which one do you think
they will pick, the taser, or the sidearm? I know which one I'd pick!
